Since joining FRC in the fall of 2003 he has led FRC to aggressively continue their work affirming and defending the Judeo-Christian values that this nation is founded upon. Tony hosts a weekly national radio program, "Washington Watch Weekly," and he also sends daily updates to tens of thousands of grassroots activists. An effective communicator, he regularly appears on national broadcast and cable news programs. In addition, he has been a keynote speaker for organizations across the country. From the Author
Hans Weisshaar and I took on the big project of Violin Restoration because there had never been a comprehensive working manual written in our field. Nine years, 42 chapters of step-by-step instruction and 18 patterns later, it was available in the summer of 1989. We thought that the 2000 copies we printed would satisfy the world market for restoration. What we had not realized is how much of it can be applied in new making and in everyday "set up" work-- making bridges, planing fingerboards, etc.
So as the years have passed, proprietors of shops that sell trumpets as well as violins have been asked by their string repairmen to invest in this book. It is heartwarming to see that as we intended, our book is really turning out to be what we had hoped it would be--a gift to our craft.

I work as a lead flight attendant and before every flight we have a meeting called a briefing where I go over some information of the day with the crew. We work long haul so no flight is less than six hours. In order to increase crew camaraderie and team building I would read a chapter of the book and discuss what I found interesting with the crew over the course of our week long charter. On the day of our third flight the team actually applauded when I finished my briefing!I saw them put a lot of our discussion into practice by complimenting each other and making small gestures of kindness such as making coffee for their galley mate when making themselves one.Will use before all briefings in future.

I’ve read Chapman’s other books and he never disappoints. This book is filled with great insight that has definitely helped me as a supervisor and leader in my company. The company runs better and my relationships with employees are improving as well. This book is certainly a staple and a must read for any manager or business owner out there. It also comes with a free code to take the assessment online too which comes with incredibly robust and detailed results

This was a handy book that provided some nice tips and pointers. While reading, the repetition became a bit onerous making me start skimming parts while trying to repress "no duh" mental notes. I think the valuable messages and lessons could have been easily consolidated in half this space with a similar - or even increased - effectiveness. On the very positive side, though, the authors provided tips for a management newbie to identify subordinate penchants - or even peer penchants. I would recommend this book for leaders who grew up in the technical generations rather than prior - If you're a Gen-X person, this is what you probably learned in high school. If this is a Millenial trying to work with very different people and build generational and social bridges, this would be a great reference to skim through.

While the 5 love languages are relevant in personal relationships, I felt uncomfortable asking coworkers, "What's your love language?" This book takes the information behind love languages and identifies them as languages of appreciation. There are some differences in their usage in the workplace, but I expect knowing my appreciation languages and how to identify others'languages will be beneficial to me and the organization. This was a good stand-alone book on love languages and how to use them in the workplace.

In my job, there are about one hundred and ten faculty that I am responsible for and showing appreciation to them is a challenge. I read this book with the expectation that I would learn lots of new techniques to demonstrate that I value my faculty and help empower them at the university. That did not happen. Although I only paid a little over two dollars for this book, I felt could have gone on the Internet to some free blog sites and received the same information. Many of the anecdotes were not meaningful and a few just too touchy feely for me. After the third chapter, I was rushing through to complete the book and not getting much out of it. I do plan on discussing parts of this book with my fellow directors and deans and try to generate some ideas on what we can do for our faculty, but I wish somebody else would have read the book instead of me.

Useful resource for supervisors and direct reports as well. It is a take on the 5 Love Languages by the same author, which is a good read and also useful for interpersonal relationships in general. The book drags on a bit - could have conveyed the same ideas with less text... Supervisors who recognize and appreciate the people that work for them get SO much more done and more impressive results. This book helps readers understand how people feel appreciated and may improve relationships in the workplace.

I am very upset about this but all 5 books came with codes that didn't work or had already been used by someone else. Unfortunatly we found this out during our workshop and had to purchase more codes. SO basically had to pay double for all the codes! we still need the books so we were trapped to paying double!

The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace, explains in detail the key reasons why persons in the workforce may feel under-valued and consider getting another job. Wanting an increase in income was not the number one reason for many staff members dissatisfaction but there are other factors which may have been overlooked by managers or supervisors.It clearly highlights the different ways companies and managers reward their staff without being able translate the feeling of appreciation to their staff.The book lists the benefits to be derived by the companies when they clearly understand and implement these tools. Some of the benefits are lower staff turnover, fewer funds required for advertising new vacancies and time required for new staff to learn their functions to become an effective team member.I would recommend this book to any business owner and persons in positions such as supervisors and managers. I think this book will contribute to the improved positive work environment and increase levels of productivity.

Damon explains the principle of the 80/20 rule and how it can literally change your life. Imagine putting in a 20% effort and getting an 80% result! Sounds too good to be true - but it's not. This book shows how to apply this simple principle in all areas of life - it's not just about being more productive, or running your business better; it is about getting the most out of life: at home, in relationships, in leisure pursuits. The book is straight forward and easy to read. Damon writes in a down to earth, friendly style. He is not lecturing. He is not talking down. He does not use complicated ideas. He is like a friend telling another friend where to find the treasure he has discovered. I really appreciated the practical suggestions and the open invitation to try things out. Although the title is not catchy, it truly represents the content presented. How do I regularly find myself in the weeds of details and never achieve anything or feeling satisfied? I have yet to live the 80/20 way. I have been following the 80/20 way for over a month now and I can honestly say that it has simplified my life and I actually get more done!
